Starting off as an ISD project run for a couple of energetic noobs in Eve's beta period, Eve Radio (as it would later become) was eventually introduced to the Eve Online community as the first player run internet radio station to support CCP's exciting and ambitions MMO project. By the time Eve Online was officially launched, it had already attracted a half dozen or so part time DJ's and gained a small but loyal cult following during it's early "pick up and play" period. As the numbers began to pick up and new faces began to appear on the scene, the Eve-Radio.com domain name was finally registered and we took opur first steps to bringing order to the chaos - which involved such barmy concepts as schedules, slot lengths and even (dare I say it?) organisation. This is where Eve Radio really began. That day was august 2nd 2003 - exactly five years ago to the day. Since that time we've grown massively, had literally tens of thousands of unique listeners, millions upon million of website page views and have streamed more data (starting with crappy 32kbps mono upto a whopping CD quality 128kbps stereo) than we can ever begin to calculate. We've had over 150 DJ's pass through our doors, had some true internet radio legends grace and abuse our ears (Doby, Daddy and Rinnywee to name but a few), hosted the first official Alliance Tournament and co produced and presented the original EveTV Alliance Tournament pilot. We've also had our down points (hacked websites, downed broadcast servers, DJ rebellions, google ad scandles and near catestrophic funding problems) but we've always had our loyal listener community and the support of CCP firmly behind us. Thanks to you, we've grown from nothing into what we are today. Thanks to you, we have kept the Eve Radio broadcast doors open for five long years. Thanks to you, we are well poised to do so for the next five. Happy Birthday Eve Radio. Comments welcome here. |
